Regarding our lack of acceptance of aging, more money is spent artificially keeping people alive for their last six months than in the whole rest of their lifeititk. And those last six months are usually miserable for the elder as well as for their family or care staff. Yet our culture considers that we are weak if we don’t fight to stay alive. “Be brave!” we’re told. “Don’t give up,” just when at some point the most natural, peaceful thing to do is to give up and to let ourselves go through a natural deathing process that will be better for us spiritually.
